Atelier/soft machine is a video half way between fiction and documentary. In 2006, Sébastien Maloberti prepares in his studio a show titled SF Landscape. One part of the work is the repetitive drilling of wooden boards, day after day.
In the film, this activity becomes a pattern drawing a hallucinating kaleidoscope, breaking regularly the static shot of a studio’s view.
Mixing industrial, organic and sexual references, the drill dances to The Blue Danube.
In between dream, entertainment, and work values.
